Challenge

Acer hardware, software, and services are built to improve people’s lives. In a market overflowing with new technology, Acer needed our help showing North American consumers what it could do for them. So, we set about our work with the goal of transforming Acer from a brand people buy to a brand people buy into.

 

The visual challenge: Acer had no established photography style or database and we weren't given devices/dummy devices to photograph (so we bought some).

Solution

Through research, we uncovered a gaping disconnect from the content Acer was producing to the content their target audiences were consuming. Acer needed a strong visual refresh that was organic, genuine, and connected with the millennial generation in a non-pushy way. Subtle, beautiful, and authentic.

 

My role in the solution: As a designer on the team, I was tasked with taking stylized photos of the devices we had on-the-fly. I also would photoshop their products into lifestyle scenarios when the deadlines didn't permit a photoshoot. The scenarios needed to be set up in a way our audience could relate to on a weekly cadence while keeping the creative fresh and genuine. 

Results

Over the course of a year, we helped Acer garner more than 1 billion impressions, 6 million clicks, and more than 7.8 million in revenue. We built strong awareness and engagement through social channels from Facebook and Twitter to a net-new Instagram where we organically obtained 40k+ followers. Today we continue to nurture this audience on a daily basis while still challenging ourselves to keep creative fresh and produce content the Acer audience wants to consume.

Follow-up result: Based on the work that our team did for the Acer America we were invited to pitch for the global book of work in the social realm and won.
